ZinMet and Beef Culture Drive Grain-Fed Cattle Performance at Condabri Beef

ZinMet and Beef Culture Drive Grain-Fed Cattle Performance at Condabri Beef

Condabri Beef is focused on the future, striving towards more consistent and efficient beef production as one of Queensland’s premier grain feedlots.

Having spent nearly twenty years working in feedlots across Australia, Amanda Moohen now leads Condabri Beef as Chief Operating Officer. As part of her commitment to maximising cattle performance and operational efficiency, Amanda has incorporated ZinMet and Beef Culture into the feedlot's nutritional program to support productivity outcomes across the business.

Owned and operated by the Drury family, Condabri Beef has been growing since the early 2000’s. This growth has been supported by the use of ZinMet and Beef Culture, which provide a wide range of benefits to cattle including stronger immunity, higher feed conversion and reduced stress recovery times. Today, the Western Downs based feedlot has recently completed a large expansion and now accommodates over 36,000 cattle, primarily targeting export markets after 100 days on feed.

As long-time customers of Austasia Animal Products, Condabri has seen firsthand the value of targeted nutritional solutions on animal performance.

“Austasia don’t have to move mountains to promote their products – the results speak for themselves,” says Amanda. “They’re always focused on supporting our operation and our growth.”

A fleet of ten road trains and 80 staff would keep anyone busy but Amanda isn’t just on the ground keeping the logistics running. Her role also steps into the arena of strategy, helping to map the course for Condabri’s next phase of development.

“I’ve been part of the feedlotting industry for seventeen years, and throughout my career I’ve always used ZinMet and Beef Culture to get the best results for grain-fed cattle,” says Amanda.

In an industry where every kilo counts, products that pay off at every step of the finishing process are well worth the investment. With ZinMet and Beef Culture incorporated into their daily rations, Condabri cattle get heavier, stay calmer and recover from illness more quickly.

“Just by looking at the cattle, you can see the benefits,” says Amanda. “You can’t see gut health, but we can measure feed intake and performance, and once they start on ZinMet and Beef Culture they grow healthier and quicker.”

Proven by a growing field of research into Beef Culture, the link between gut health and feed absorption is undeniable. When tracking average daily gain (ADG) in feedlot cattle, Zinmet also plays a crucial part in reducing rumen degradation by up to 80%.

The bottom line? More nutrients are absorbed and more beef is produced.

“A big draw card for us when considering Beef Culture was the improved recovery time for cattle after wet events,” says Amanda. “So having Beef Culture in their diet is a preventative measure as well as a nutrition solution for us.”

Amanda has built a valuable relationship with the Austasia Animal Products team, who work closely with Condabri’s resident nutritionist to keep the herd’s feeding program fine-tuned.

“I would not hesitate to recommend Austasia products to beef producers, the team are the most approachable and knowledgeable people,” says Amanda. “We regularly see their reps onsite, checking that everything is working properly and it’s all so well implemented that all we really have to do is press a button.”

With thousands of animals onsite, Condabri places a premium on the efficient and trustworthy support Austasia provides to their operation.

“Austasia goes above and beyond for our company, and they always keep the best interests of our cattle front of mind.”
